My buddy Pasha Malla (author of The Withdrawal Method, a collection of short stories published earlier this year) has a new, equally fantastic collection of poetry, titled All Our Grandfathers Are Ghosts (Snare Books, 2008). I worked with Pasha, as editor, for the collection. I'm biased, yes: but I have no problem telling you the book's wonderful.
You can find more information about the book and its author at the Snare Books website. Pasha's been kind enough to allow this little ol' blog to post a couple of poems from the collection, for your reading pleasure. Hopefully the poems convince you to purchase a copy.

EMMANUEL LEWIS IS DEAD
Not really, not yet.
Although you’d assume so,
wouldn’t you?
But, consider:
if I were to write down the words,
Emmanuel Lewis is dead,
and I waited long enough,
they would eventually be true.
And maybe the same could be said of anything.
God is dead.
And so is Emmanuel Lewis
and so am I,
motherfucker,
and so are you.
I GOT MY MFA IN HAIKU AND THIS WAS MY THESIS
One, two, three, four, five.
One, two, three, four, five, six, sev-
en. Shit, I fucked up.
